One of the fun aspects of touring breweries on a regular basis is seeing the evolution of these businesses and their ideas over time. We heard rumors of a special lager Four String was working on months ago. The debut of Hilltop Heritage Lager is the realization of a beer to fill a void. It is also right sized priced starting at $7.99 for a 16 oz six pack!
The beer is officially released in cans and draft on May 15th. It is crafted to be an easy drinking beer, approachable to fans of PBR, Old Milwaukee, etc, as well as an acceptable and fun alternative for craft beer purists. Hilltop Heritage Lager is 4.2% ABV (alcohol by volume) and 13 IBU’s (International Bitterness Units) finely balanced to be suitable for mowing the lawn, sitting on a porch or (in our opinion) being a replacement for PBR drinkers. With Hilltop Heritage Lager, Four String is localizing this beer with a nod to to their neighbors down Hague Ave. in the area known as the Hilltop. To localize it even more they make the tap handles for this lager at the brewery in their downtime. Having sampled this beer, we think it deserves a blue ribbon, so we will refer to it as a CBR (Columbus Blue Ribbon). Nice Job Four String Brewing Co. roll out some more barrels of this one.
