North Market Microbrew Festival 2013

August 22nd, 2013    •  by Bethia    •   No Comments »

This year the North Market’s Columbus Microbrew Festival (September 13th-15th) promises to be bigger and better than ever. If you haven’t been for a couple of years the event has now moved outside and Spruce Street is closed to allow room for 20 microbreweries, a stage and a beer garden. The North Market hosted Columbus’ first all-Ohio-brewed craft beer festival in 2006 with six capital city breweries sampling their locally brewed beers inside the market building. Each subsequent year they’ve added more breweries and this year, the eighth year, there’s a record twenty breweries. The participating breweries come from all […]

Quick Bites – May 9th

May 9th, 2011    •  by Bethia    •   No Comments »

There’s still time to buy a ticket for the Taste of Dine Originals this week (Thursday, May 12 from 6 to 9 pm), at the Audubon Center on the Whittier Peninsula. As always, this is one of the biggest food events of the year and is a fantastic fundraiser for the Buckeye Ranch. This year, Taste of Dine Originals will feature dishes from 50 Dine Originals member restaurants, 30 vineyards, 2 craft breweries and a couple of micro-distilleries. It’s a great way to get to know a lot of the different chefs and restaurants doing great things in the city […]

Quick Bites – April 14th

April 14th, 2011    •  by Bethia    •   4 Comments »

There are some great new bakeries popping up in Columbus. So far, 2011 has seen the arrival of Cherbourg bakery in Bexley and the Angry Baker in Olde Towne East. Cherbourg is a dedicated gluten and nut free bakery famous for their luscious lemon slices. We will be visiting them during our gluten free dessert tour on May 14th. The Angry Baker offers a variety of breads and pastries and also serves as a cafe offering breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere and the decor with exposed brick and mixture of art and vintage kitchen equipment. Their top […]

Columbus Food Events

March 8th, 2011    •  by Bethia    •   1 Comment »

Last week was a busy week of food events and fundraisers and I want to give you a little taste of each of them. Saturday night was the third annual Oscar dinner at the Hills Market. The food and wine choices are all inspired by the movies nominated for best picture. I love the effort and creativity that is put into this event. Jill Moorhead (Marketing Director at Hills) watches each of the nominated movies scouring them for references to food and then with the list of random ingredients she and her staff put together a menu and wine pairings. […]

Bethia on blogging and more: March 8th at 7:00pm

March 5th, 2011    •  by Bethia    •   No Comments »

I’m excited to have been invited to speak at the Grandview Heights public library on Tuesday, March 8th at 7:00pm-8:30pm. The talk will cover a wide range of topics including the various food blogs that I founded and contribute to, taco trucks and street food in Columbus, and the founding of Columbus’ first food tour company. I’ll also be discussing some of my personal ‘hidden gem’ favorite restaurants, and fielding questions about everything and anything related to food in Central Ohio. This is a free event, open to all, and should be a lot of fun. More information can be found […]

So long summer

September 5th, 2010    •  by Bethia    •   6 Comments »

The pools are closing, the kids are back in school and yesterday I saw pumpkins and apple cider at the farmers’ market. It’s officially the end of summer. For me it seems to have gone by in a flash – I’ve been going full throttle all summer on our new business start up – Columbus Food Adventures. We officially launched in July and the summer has been a whirlwind of tours, promotional events, emails and learning how to run a business. So far, it’s been a lot of fun and we are enjoying sharing some of our favorite foods and […]
